This craft kit was developed from a large wall hanging I made for my son, after an afternoon dragon hunting (any excuse to get him out for a walk).

Whilst on our walk we came across clumps of bark lying at the base of a Scots pine tree. This bark is formed by layers of individual pieces of thin bark compressed together. It looked just like scales. This was a great start to our dragon hunt.

I could also mention we found giant dragon eggs (stones) dead animals that had been feasted on by the dragon (random dead rodent on the foot path) and a dragon catcher (staff  shaped long stick)  but that would make a short story long, so I wont.

Experimenting with these beautiful clumps of wood I discovered I could prise all the individual scales off, Leaving me with some beautiful wooden jigsaw like pieces. I ended up gathering all the clumps we had found and separating the pieces. I cut a large dragon from MDF and glued all the pieces to the dragon to make this Wall mounted dragon shield.

I enjoyed making this so much that I started making smaller pieces to sell. Unfortunately due to the time they took it made them quite expensive, and so determined was I to share this beautiful natural art I turned them in to craft kits.

These kits will be available from my website very soon.
